1. What material are the compostable mailers made of?
The compostable mailers are made of PLA(Polylactic Acid.) and PBAT (olybutylene Adipate) plant-based materials instead of plastic. This natural composition makes them 100% compostable and biodegradable.
2. What is the shelf life of the compostable mailers?
If properly stored in a cool, dry and dark place, the compostable mailers can last for 9-12 months while retaining their durability.
3. How long does it take for the compostable mailers to break down?
The decomposition time varies on temperature, humidity and composting method. In average home compost, compostable mailers fully break down within 90-180 days in home compost conditions, quickly returning nourishment to the earth.
4. What certifications do the compostable mailers have?
Our mailers are TÜV Austria OK compost HOME & INDUSTRIAL certified in compliance with EN 13432 and ASTM D6400 testing standards.
5. Is the printing ink eco-friendly?
Yes, we use non-toxic inks, like soybean oil ink or water based ink to print beautiful designs and it’s free of pollution.
6. Are the glue and adhesive strips biodegradable?
The current glue and adhesive strips are unable to degrade. Please remove them before throw in the compost bins.
7. How to handle the compostable mailers after purchase?
No special equipment needed! Just place our mailers in your backyard compost or compost them in home compost bin, after removing labels, tapes and plastic backing.
8. Can the compostable mailers go into recycling bins?
No. The compostable mailers need to be broken down through composting instead of conventional recycling.
9. What’s the difference between compostable mailers and regular PE mailers?
Compostable mailers are more eco-friendly and will degrade completely. They have slightly lower durability and higher price but with added branding value.
